National Scholarship Service Program
The National Scholarship Service Program (NSS) operates with the philosophy that education is one of the key elements in a young person’s ability to realize the “American Dream.” The objectives of NSS are to provide venues that facilitate the exchange of information, to provide one-on-one sessions between students and college representatives and to assist in the recruitment of Ivy League Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, traditional state colleges, junior colleges, private colleges, vocational schools and military institutions. These objectives are accomplished through the Student College Interview Sessions (SCIS) college fairs. The SCIS are perhaps the single most significant program in the college choice process for low-income students living in underserved communities. These college fairs are held in nearly 30 cities across the United States, which allow students the opportunity to personally meet with college representatives and pursue their interest in higher education. Over 1 million students of all races, genders, ages and economic backgrounds have taken advantage of the opportunities provided by NSS.
